Wegmans has announced it is recalling some bags of its store brand ice because of a "potential presence of foreign material."

The Rochester-based supermarket chain's website indicates the recall affects Wegmans bagged ice. Only 7 pound bags are included in the action.

According to the recall notice, the ice could be contaminated with metal shavings. The notice did not identify the company's ice supplier nor did it indicate how many bags are subject to the recall.

It was not known whether any of the ice that's been recalled has been sold by the Wegmans store in Johnson City.

Wegmans corporate representatives did not immediately respond to calls seeking additional information.

The recalled ice may be identified by lot codes printed on the bags. The codes are “ROC 100” and “ROC 104”.

The ice may be returned to the Wegmans store customer service desk for a refund.
