Union-Endicott graduate and All-Pro pass-rusher for the Arizona Cardinals, Chandler Jones will require surgery to repair an injury to his right bicep and that will end his season according to an ESPN report.

The injury came in the second quarter of the Cardinals win over the Jets on Sunday. Jones left the field holding his arm and made his way to the locker room. When he came back to the field he tried to test his biceps by pushing on one of his fellow teammates. He knew then that he wasn't ready to return to the game, and sat on the bench while holding his arm.

The thirty-year-old outside linebacker was named to the NFL's All-Decade Team at the beginning of the year. Last year Jones recorded 19 sacks, which was the most sacks recorded by a player since Chandler join the NFL in 2012. So far this year Jones only has one sack, but a lot of that is due to the fact that he gets double-teamed a lot by opposing teams.

ESPN reported that Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury expects recovery time for Jones to be at least three to four months.

After playing football at Syracuse University, the 2007 U.E. grad was drafted by the New England Patriots. He was part of the Patriots Championship team in Super Bowl 49. He was traded to the Arizona Cardinals in 2016 and has been there since. He has been named to the Pro Bowl three times, in 2015, 2017, and 2019.

Jones hasn't forgotten where he came from either, last year, Chandler donated new football cleats to the entire Union Endicott Football Team, and earlier this year, Jones donated more that 150,000 meals to a food pantry in Arizona, and to Mother Teresa's Cupboard in Endicott.

We wish Chandler a speedy recovery and we hope he has a great season in 2021.
