A Bainbridge couple is being charged following a chase that started in Johnson City and ended with their vehicle crashed on Barrier Road in the Town of Maine.

Johnson City Police say they chased 39-year-old Hayes Cutting after getting a report of a theft from the Walmart store in the village shortly after 6 p.m.February 3.

Village Police and Broome County Sheriff’s officials pursued Cutting’s vehicle onto Airport Road and onto Barrier Road where it crashed into some trees.

Authorities say Cutting and his passenger, 35-year-old Amanda Vanhouten ran into the woods where they were apprehended.

Both are charged with felony grand larceny and resisting arrest.

Vanhouten is also charged with four misdemeanor counts of drug possession.

Cutting is charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell following the discovery of some heroin and a number of tickets were issued.

There were no injuries.
