The Abandoned City
Today at lunch, I left the radio station and went out to grab a salad. I braved the cold as I took a walk down State Street. While I was walking, I noticed I was the only one walking down the sidewalk.
While my salad was being put together, I was talking to the man behind the counter. He looked outside and mentioned something about it being cold and windy and that it looked more like Buffalo than Binghamton. I said it's amazing how empty the town feels. It's kind of deserted with the B. U. kids home for the holidays, no school this week, and a lot of people taking their vacation time this week. I'm sure the -11 wind chill had some people staying in for lunch as well.
As I was leaving with my lunch I looked back and said, one good thing about the town being deserted, there's no problem finding a parking spot today.
