At this time of the year, many ask (and wish) for a Christmas that looks like a winter wonderland. Snow blankets everything you see, but it's safe enough to travel to your grandmother's house (or wherever you may travel on Christmas Day.)

Unfortunately, Christmas isn't always that picture-perfect day weather-wise in our slice of the U.S.A. Looking at the extended forecast from the National Weather Service in Binghamton (as of December 21st,) the call is partly sunny with a high of 35 degrees.

But, with the snow, we received Friday night into Saturday, maybe it will stick around through Christmas Day.

Last Christmas (2023), the National Weather Service recorded a high temperature of 51 degrees and a low of 38 degrees.

So, how has Christmases past faired with snow on the ground in the BInghamton area?  The National Weather Service can only go back to where the records began in 1951.

The NWS notes that 67 percent of Christmas days have had at least an inch or more of snow on the ground, and 50 percent of Christmas days recorded more than a trace of snowfall. But those percentages look to be slim to none this Christmas. Although, you never know with our fast-changing weather patterns,
