Snow and Ice for Travelers to Elmira & Corning
Travelers headed west from Binghamton March 30 may encounter some more winter weather.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. for Bradford County, Pennsylvania as well as the Western Southern Tier including Elmira and Corning. Officials were predicting up to an inch of snow and a light glaze of ice.
The Hazardous Weather Outlook for the Greater Binghamton Area from the National Weather Service cautions of the chance of some strong thunderstorms moving in for Thursday, March 31.
The statement from the NOAA office in Binghamton says a few thunderstorms have a potential to be “strong to severe with damaging winds being the main threat.”
A trade-off of the front moving through on Thursday is the increase in the high temperature, although briefly. The projected high March 31 is in the 60s before settling in to the more seasonable high temperature in the mid-40s for Friday, April 1.
