Ross Park Zoo is getting all its lemurs in a row in preparation of reopening under New York’s phase four of economic recovery.

Binghamton’s Zoo has worked out a detailed map to negotiate around the park while physically distanced with hygiene, cleaning, personal protective equipment, screenings and signage provisions with a hope for reopening at the end of the month.

While subject to change, the proposal based on current industry guidance and health recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the best practices from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, takes into account of the health and safety of the visitors and staff as well as the animals in the zoo’s care.

Under the plan, enclosed exhibits like the Wolf Woods indoor portions would be closed along with other buildings except for restrooms and guests wouldn’t be able to feed the animals in the children’s zoo for now.

Meanwhile Ross Park Zoo officials are thanking supporters who have contributed to help keep the facility going and the animals properly cared for during the pandemic shutdown.
