A building in Vestal that housed a pizzeria for 25 years is about to spring back to life as an eatery featuring a wide range of seafood.

The Storming Crab restaurant in the Town Square Mall on the Vestal Parkway East is about to open its doors.

Manager Rich Lynn said he expects the business will start operations on Friday. It's located near the main entrance of the retail complex. It had been occupied by Uno Pizzeria and Grill until April 2018.

In an interview on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Lynn said "it's been a long, long road but it's paying off." The process of getting the 6,000-square-foot site ready took longer than anticipated because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lynn said the restaurant's theme "makes it feel like you're at the beach."

The Storming Crab in Vestal won't be accepting reservations. Lynn said it will be "first-come, first-served."

The business initially will operate at limited capacity to comply with the state's health guidelines.

Lynn said although some people have been hired, additional positions are available.

Two other Storming Crab restaurants are in operation in New York state. They are in Syracuse and Buffalo.
