As you know, leap year happens every four years. That's when they add an extra day to the month of February. 2020 just happens to be one of those years. And if you're a fan of 3-day weekends, that is great news.

Last year Christmas and New Year's Day both fell on Wednesdays. It was kind of strange having one day off in the middle of the week and then having to return to work for two days just to get to the weekend.

The 4th. of July in 2019 was on a Thursday and a lot of people had to go into work the next day only to have two more days off afterwards. This year will be different being that it is a leap year. If you get all the major holidays off you should be getting seven three day weekends this year.

Martin Luther King Junior Day is January 20th. That is always a Monday so if you get that off there is your first three day weekend. President's Day is February 17th. That's too is always a Monday holiday so there's three day weekend number two. Memorial Day, also always a Monday, is May 25th this year.

Independence Day falls on a Saturday this year which means most people will have that Friday off in place of the holiday. Another holiday that is always on Monday is Labor Day, this year it's Sept. 7th.

Christmas and New Year's Day both fall on Fridays this year so we will have two more three day weekends.

And even though it's not a National Federal holiday, even Halloween falls on Saturday this year because of leap year.
