Winter Weather Advisories for many areas in the Southern Tier were lifted early February 21 with some parts of the eastern parts of the state lingering under special weather advisories for a few hours into the morning commute.

Over a dozen school districts called in to delay opening by a couple hours for February 21. (Complete school delays and closings as well as current forecasts can always be found by clicking on weather on the trending bar at the top of your screen.)

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to still use caution and watch for icy spots. Untreated sidewalks, ramps and bridges may be especially slippery until temperatures warm to well above the freezing mark.

Moderating temperatures are forecast for the end part of the week, reaching into the upper 30s and low 40s and even low to mid 50s on February 24.
