A Broome County spiedie production company is preparing to relocate to a larger facility.

Sam A. Lupo & Sons is planning to move its meat processing operation to the former Kalurah Shrine Center at 625 Dickson Street in West Endicott.

The firm's current facility at 1219 Campville Road is one mile west of the new location.

Company president Sam Lupo Jr. said a 9,000-square-foot addition is to be constructed on the north side of the existing Dickson Street building.

The new site will have a total of about 20,000-square-feet of usable space.

Lupo said the company has been dealing with a space crunch at its present site. He said the business now has a total of about 50 employees. 30 of those work in the meat processing operation.

Lupo said the closing on the Dickson Street property occurred last month. Work to clean out the building has begun. He hopes construction at the site can get underway by September 1.

Lupo said "we're very excited" about the planned project, which he said will give the business a greater potential for growth.
