Kopernik Event Friday For The James Webb Space Telescope’s First Full-Color Images
I've always been fascinated with space. You know, the thing with planets, suns, galaxies, etc. I remember as a kid camping out under the stars gazing at the mass of glowing dots above me, looking for shooting stars, and maybe even an alien ship.
When I'm out of the city and at camp, I still spend time sitting outside looking up at the stars. It never gets old. Over the decades, satellites and telescopes have helped up to see farther than ever into space to find just what's out there.
And now we've been getting pictures from space that no one has ever seen before from NASA's James Webb Space Telescope. The first demonstration of Webb at full power is a look back billions of years into the universe.
Here's something exciting for stargazers - the Kopernik Observatory and Science Center on Underwood Road in Vestal is hosting educator and NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador Tish Brezee and NASA’s Doctor Michele Thailer via Zoom for a Friday night program (7/15) on the new telescope and its spectacular images just released.
Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. with family-friendly activities prior to the program. The cost is $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for seniors and students, and $20.00 family maximum. Kopernik Passport Members are admitted free of charge.
If you can't make it to the Kopernik Observatory and Science Center, they plan to live-stream the program on their YouTube channel. For more information about this program and other exciting programs, visit the Kopernik Observatory and Science Center website.
