Johnson City Vaccination Site Closed After Giving 150,000 Doses

A state-run Covid-19 mass vaccination facility at a Binghamton University library annex in Broome County has been shut down.

Abigail Barker of the New York state Department of Health confirmed that site closed on Monday.

In an email statement to WNBF News, Barker said 995 vaccine doses were administered at the location over the last month. The building near CFJ Park had been a Gannett newspaper printing plant until the company closed the facility three years ago.

The health department previously reported nearly 141,000 vaccine doses had been provided at the Johnson City site during its first five months of operation. That would indicate the site administered more than 150,000 doses since mid-January.

According to Barker, as of Tuesday, 13 mass vaccinations sites were open in New York state.

Although vaccination appointments were difficult to obtain last winter, traffic at the state-operated sites dropped dramatically over the past three months.
