Tuesday, January 24th is "Beer Can Appreciation Day" because on this date in 1935, beer was offered in cans for the very first time. It was from a New Jersey based brewery called Kruegers. Back then, getting canned had an entirely different meaning.

Canned beer wouldn't really gain popularity until the 60's. In 1962, canned beer became mainstream again after a delay in production during World War II. In 1969, canned beer sales passed bottled beer for the first time.

There are many advantages to having a beer in a can. It's easier (and quieter) to put a beer can in a cooler. If you drop a beer can, it might dent but it won't smash into pieces. It also takes less time to get a can of beer cold.

National Beer Can Appreciation Day

We all know someone that has a collection of different beer brews from all over the country and even the world...Maybe it's even you. Look at the collection, the majority of them will be cans and not glass.

In fact, I don't know anyone that has a glass beer bottle collection, how about you? So what is the best way to celebrate this special day? My suggestion is to get tickets to the Binghamton On Tap Craft Beer Festival at its new location at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena.

Binghamton On Tap At Visions Veterans Memorial Arena

It takes place on March 25th with two sessions: VIP session from 5 to 9 p.m. and a General session from 6 to 9 p.m. Remember that prices go up as time goes by, so why not take the time right now and get your tickets now.

Beery good times will be brewing in Binghamton, so make plans to be there. In the meantime, here are some pictures from the last two Binghamton On Tap events Were you there?  How many people do you recognize?
