Sunday is Father's Day and we are celebrating with the Founding Fathers of Classic Rock on 99.1 The Whale.

Throughout the weekend, we will highlight artists or bands with artists who we consider were some of the musicians who helped shape the world of Rock-n-Roll, like Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Jimi Hendrix, Angus Young, Pete Townsend and so many others.

It's hard to believe that we've been rocking and rolling with these artists for several decades now. As I always say, it's music that will stand the test of time. No disrespect to the the different types of music today, but in my opinion, rock and roll from the 1950's through the 1990's was the best time for memorable music.

Where are the bands today who have the memorable sound like The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Pink Floyd, Bob Seger, AC/DC, Steve Miller, Aerosmith and Van Halen to mention a few? Maybe there are some out there, and I hope there are for the future of rock-n-roll.

I consider myself fortunate to grow up in the years where rock-n-roll got it's start and developed into some of the best music ever produced. Yes, I do appreciate all kinds of music styles and sounds, even some of the music that is produced today, but I will always have my heart set on the rock and roll that I grew up on, and still play on The Whale.

So, while we rock your world this Father's Day weekend, be sure to take The Whale with you and rock with our Founding Fathers of Classic Rock songs.

You can hear us on your radio at 99.1FM, online on the Whale Website, Whale Mobile App, and Smart Speaker with Alexa and Google Home. Enjoy!
