A Cortland County man, who died after being thrown from his utility terrain vehicle May 26, was a well-known member of the community and an accomplished musician.

Sheriff’s officials say 75 year old Donald Barber of Homer, who opened the Donald Barber Funeral Home in Homer 50 years ago and performed with the group Don Barber and the Dukes, was pronounced dead at the scene after the UTV he was driving left a trail to a hunting camp located between Vern King Road and Route 11 and hit a tree.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. May 31 and the Donald Barber Funeral Home with funeral services Friday, June 1 at Saint Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church in Homer.

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the 11 a.m. crash May 26.
