Holiday Recipe Countdown: Fried Eggnog Cake
Our Taste of Home Cooking School is coming up at the end of the month, and that got me thinking about crazy holiday recipes I want to try.
The first one is something I have not tried, but I figure since everything else can be deep fried, why not?
I am a huge fan of eggnog. The only problem is, I just can't get enough. So, if it can be incorporated into a food recipe, I can eat it and drink it. Yeah. Let's give it a go!
Deep Fried Eggnog Cake
The ingredients are pretty simple:
- 1 Store bought pound cake or angel food cake. (You can keep it whole or cube them)
- 2 cups eggnog
- nutmeg
- cinnamon
- canola oil
Soak the cake in the eggnog for about 10 minutes. Deep fry the pieces (or the entire cake). Then place the fried cake on a paper towel covered plate to cool. Before serving, sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon to taste.
Nice and simple, right?
