10 Places To Find Halal Food In The Binghamton Area
I've mentioned it before and I'll mention it again. The greater Binghamton area is rich when it comes to different types of food offerings. Most foods from around the world can be found at our local restaurants. I love to try new things, and giving food a try that I've never tasted before is at the top of the list.
Probably the most daring thing I've tried is Haggis. Many years ago when I was on vacation touring Scotland, I just had to try this national dish of Scotland. I just didn't ask what was in it. It was delicious. according to Britannica, Haggis is "a type of pudding composed of the liver, heart, and lungs of a sheep (or other animal), minced and mixed with beef or mutton suet and oatmeal and seasoned with onion, cayenne pepper, and other spices. The mixture is packed into a sheep’s stomach and boiled."
There is one type of food I have yet to try- Halal. No reason why, but I need to get out of my food rut and visit one of many places that offer Halal food in the Triple Cities area. The Fine Dining Lovers website describes it this way - "Halal is an Arabic word that simply means lawful or permitted, but generally refers to what’s allowed under Islamic law. It’s the opposite of haram, which means unlawful or prohibited."
So, where in the Triple Cities can you dine on Halal food or for purchase to take home? I looked on YELP! and Binghamton University's Pipe Dream among other searches for Halal restaurants and places that sell Halal food.
I found several, but it's no guarantee they all are open and serving/selling Halal foods, so call ahead to make sure. Did I miss any? Let me know!
