Graffiti Sprayed Below Trump Campaign Sign at Binghamton Store

A former Binghamton city councilman says someone spray-painted a message referencing Breonna Taylor below a Donald Trump campaign sign posted at a business he owns.

The graffiti was scrawled on the side of Cordisco's Corner Store at 308 Chenango Street.

John Cordisco advised WNBF News of the vandalism. The message - in black spray paint - read: "Revenge for Breona Taylor." The message misspelled the first name of the Louisville woman who was fatally shot in March by police officers who were executing a search warrant at her apartment.

The graffiti was located near a red "Trump 2020" sign. Two campaign signs supporting Republican congressional candidate Claudia Tenney also are on the Robinson Street side of the building.

Cordisco said he was told by a person who viewed a security camera recording that a man wrote the message on the wall around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday. He said he didn't report the incident to police because he thought it would "be a waste of the cops' time."

Binghamton police detective Captain Cory Minor said he was not aware of any similar vandalism incidents in the city. Mayor Richard David was not available Thursday afternoon to discuss the matter.

Cordisco was a member of Binghamton City Council from 2000 to 2007. He lost his bid to return to city council last year to Democrat Aviva Friedman.
