This past Friday, I used a vacation day and volunteered at the Dick's Sporting Goods Open. Friday was car moving day. That's a day where volunteers get together and take a shuttle to the car rental shop to bring back roughly 80 cars for the players to use this week during the Dick's Sporting Goods Open.

My wife Chris was off Friday as well, so I roped her into volunteering with us. In total there were 20 of us making the runs to the airport to get the cars. I myself made four different runs to the airport to bring car four cars down for the players to use. After all the cars were moved down from the airport they treated us to lunch. After lunch I helped Dave, who has volunteered there for many years, organize and number the cars and make sure the keys corresponded with the correct vehicles.

After we finished with that, it was time for the volunteer party. Everybody that volunteers for the Dick's Sporting Goods Open is welcomed at the volunteer party. The features free food (steak) and drink and prizes.

I spent the rest of the weekend getting my yard ready for the PGA Champion's event. I mowed the lawn, got the edging and trimming done, and then I got the leaf blower out and cleaned the driveway and the sidewalk in front of my house and a couple of my neighbor's houses. I also scrubbed the siding on the house under the covered patio where we all hang out after play is done for the day.

Yesterday afternoon I lined the parking spots in our backyard. Some people in our neighborhood charge people to park in their yards and that's awesome. But, everyone that parks at our house is a person that we know, they are either fellow volunteers or friends, so we don't charge them to park there. Usually, I outline the backyard on Tuesday in preparation for the volunteers that will be working the Pro-ams on Wednesday and Thursday. But seeing that they were calling for rain in the forecast, I decided I better get it done while I can.

I just hope the cars in our backyard won't dig up our grass too much after all the rain we've gotten the last few weeks.
