Former Binghamton Native Rod Serling’s ‘Twilight Zone’ Is Coming Back
While I was watching the Super Bowl on Sunday, I caught the tail end of a commercial that mentioned something about the Twilight Zone. I meant to look into it after the game but forgot about it until I saw the story on WBNG.
They are reporting that CBS is launching a reboot of 'The Twilight Zone' which was created by Rod Serling who grew up in Binghamton.
According to WBNG, the new version of 'The Twilight Zone' will start with two episodes and will debut April 1st on CBS All Access. CBS All Access is a digital subscription-based live streaming service.
Rod Serling was born in Syracuse on Christmas Day 1924. According to Rotten Tomatoes, 'The Twilight Zone' aired from 1959 through 1965 and Sterling also wrote a few screenplays including 'Planet of the Apes' in 1968.
Serling attended Binghamton High School before going to Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio where he studied physical education and literature.
Rod Serling died while undergoing open heart surgery in 1975, but his legacy lives on in the Binghamton Area with tributes to him at both Binghamton High School and the Broome County Forum. There is also a permanent exhibit at the Bundy Museum of History and Art 129 Main St. in Binghamton.
