11 Most Eye-Catching Species Native to Broome County, NY

Can we talk about insects, reptiles, birds and bugs? Well, more like write about insects, reptiles birds and bugs, and more specifically those that are commonly found in Broome County (and most likely other counties surrounding Broome.)

I find it interesting the different variety of each that you can find in our neck of the woods. I found a website  iNaturalist that does an amazing job sorting out the different types of bugs that you may encounter in Broome County.

There are over 200 varieties of species (including various types of plants)  found in Broome County that are listed on the iNaturalist website from the majestic to creepy (spiders) and scary (snakes.) Yes, I am not a fan of snakes.

While I recognized many of these creatures on the list like the variation of bees, ants, spiders, birds, reptiles and butterflies, there were some I've never come across in my outdoor travels.

Here are 11 interesting and majestic species I picked out that are found in Broome County. Maybe you have encountered some or all of them.
