Broome and Tioga Counties are both reporting an additional COVID-19 related death in the latest updates. On Friday, September 17 Broome announced another fatality bringing the county pandemic death toll to 370.

Friday’s report of a COVID death in Broome made it the fourth report of a fatality from the pandemic in one week, a number that has not been seen for months.

Tioga County numbers show an additional death from the September 17 report for a total of 67 pandemic fatalities.  Tioga County had also shown a COVID death in numbers recorded for September 16.

No other fatalities were reported in the September 17 updates for other Southern Tier Counties.

Broome County recorded 101 new cases Friday. There were 18 added cases in Chenango County, 24 in Cortland and Delaware reported 39 additional cases from its last update on September 15.

New York State on Sunday, September 19 reported 31 new deaths while there were 5,275 positive tests for the coronavirus.

The Broome County Health Department is holding a vaccination clinic for the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine tomorrow at the Health Department on Front Street in Binghamton. The shot will be offered to those 17 and older from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. but there are only 9 appointments available.

The Health Department is also hosting clinics Thursday for the first dose of the Moderna vaccine from 1:05 to 2:55 p.m. and the J&J vaccine from 1 to 3 p.m., both at the offices on Front Street.
