Cortland County Man Admits Sexually Exploiting 3-Year-Old Child

A Cortland County man is expected to be sentenced to up to 30 years in federal prison after pleading guilty last week to conspiracy to sexually exploit a child and five counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

27-year-old Lawrence Berry of Marathon admitted he conspired with 27-year-old Brittany Berry, who pleaded guilty in 2019, to sexual exploit a three-year-old child in August and September of 2018 and abused the toddler on five different occasions to make pornography.

Federal prosecutors say the man created and sent live and recorded images and videos of the sexual abuse over the internet.

Sentencing is scheduled for November in Federal Court in Utica.

Berry faces a minimum of 15 years in prison on each of the six counts. He will also be required to serve five years to up to life on probation and register as a sex offender in any state where he lives.

Brittany Berry pleaded guilty in the case in October of 2019 and was looking at fifteen to 30 years in prison for sending pornographic images of the abuse of the child to Lawrence Berry.
