Caregiver Stress Discussed on Southern Tier Close Up
Caregiver Specialist with the Broome County Office for Aging, Judy Bobinski appears on the weekly, local public affairs program Southern Tier Close Up to talk about the challenges faced by people who are caring for loved ones.
Office for Aging scheduled a presentation December 7 from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Stay Healthy Center at the Oakdale Mall called "Dealing with Stress and Guilt as a Caregiver."
Bobinski says caregivers feel stress as they are trying to live their own life while living their loved one's life and guilt for sometimes taking a break for themselves. She says how the caregiver deals with stress and guilt can have a big impact on their own health and ability to care for their loved one.
The Office for Aging offers several support groups to help caregivers but, Bobinski says, sometimes caregivers admit they feel stress when they first ask for services. Once in a program, however, Bobinski says many admit they feel better and are better able to give care.

Southern Tier Close Up is heard Sunday at 6 am on 99.1 The Whale.
