Most people know that some of the very best nutrients of an apple are found in the peel or that the skin of a potato has more nutrients packed into it than the inside does. However, you probably never thought about munching on a banana peel but maybe you should!

Susie Burrell is a dietician based in Australia and she says most people have no idea that the peel of the banana is where so much of the good stuff is. According to Burrell, when you eat the peel of a banana you will, "get almost 20 percent more vitamin B6 and almost 20 percent more vitamin C and you will boost both your potassium and magnesium intake."

Maybe don't just shove the banana peel in your mouth and start chewing though. Burrell suggests cooking the peel to get it soft and then tossing it into a blender when you make a smoothie. Just make sure that you wash the peel very well before cooking it.

We decided to take a look at other fruits with super nutritious and edible outer layers and the same can be said for these fruit peels as said for the banana peel - always wash the peel thoroughly before eating.
