Most people don't generally think of law enforcement as being humourous so when one of our local agencies drops a funny, the reaction from the community who wasn't expecting a good-humored, albeit serious post, is simply fantastic.

On Wednesday, February 9, a social media post was released by the Broome County Sheriff's Office that had followers rolling. The post started with some calligraphy-type text which read, "Valentine's Day Weekend Special" and then, the humor began.

In the post, Broome County Sheriff's Office offered a gift idea for anyone with an ex who isn't exactly the most upstanding of citizens. "Do you have an ex-Valentine and know they have outstanding warrants? Do you have information that they are driving with drugs in their car or are they endangering our community?"

Oh yes, they went there by kicking Pandora's box wide open. Hell certainly has no fury like a scorned lover and one doesn't even have to have ever been scorned to know that truth.

The post went on to say that the Valentine's Day Weekend Special offered by the Broome County Sheriff's Office starts with "a set of silver bracelets, free transportation, and a local stay with accommodations."

You see where this is going now, don't you? Yes, the Broome County Sherrif's Office is absolutely asking for jilted lovers to rat out their no-good exes.

If you have an ex who has been evading the law and is a rotten-no-good crook who has managed to slip through the fingers of authorities far too long for your liking, you can give them a Valentine's Day gift they'll never forget by reaching out to the Broome County Sheriff's Office.

If you have tips on the whereabouts of a person with an outstanding warrant, someone who is dealing, or someone who is doing something criminal that is causing a negative impact on the community, contact the Broome County Sheriff's Office by calling the tip line at 607-778-1196, the Warrants Division at 607-778-2923 or 607-778-2933 or you can fill out this form on the Go Broome County website.
