Travis Flanagan knew he was in trouble! On March 13th, he was helping his father on a farm in the Greene-Smithville area and his coveralls got caught on the corn harvester. He ended up having his legs amputated below the knee and because of the heroic efforts of so many first responders, he is still with us today.

Flanagan credits a number of things that helped him survive this horrible accident. He pointed out the fact that the Guthrie helicopter from Sayre, Pennsylvania had blood on board that it could give him.

Did you know that that medical choppers in New York are not allowed to carry blood? I didn't either and New York is the only state that is not allowed to do so. I wonder why that is? Anyway, it's quite a remarkable story of courage, inner strength, and perseverance. You can read his story here.
