City police seized "ghost guns" and ammunition after investigating a report of a gunshot in downtown Binghamton.

Authorities say officers were sent to 61 Pine Street around 11:05 p.m. Monday when someone heard a single shot.

Police determined a gunshot had been fired inside an apartment. Four people who were there were questioned.

Detectives executed a search warrant and confiscated ghost handguns and a rifle. They also found ammunition and ghost gun parts.

Investigators say 18-year-old Mecca Rose of Binghamton has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment. He also faces three counts of unlawful possession of certain ammunition feeding devices.

Rose was arraigned in Binghamton city court and sent to Broome County jail.

Police say "ghost guns" are privately made firearms that are untraceable. People can obtain the weapons without going through federal background checks.
