The Binghamton Job Market is seeing an improvement in the jobless rate for the month and year.

According to the New York State Department of Labor, unemployment fell 3.5% from August of 2020 to last month and fell from 5.6% in July to 5.4%.

The numbers are not seasonally adjusted and subject to change and can be found at the department of labor website: https://statistics.labor.ny.gov/cesemp.asp.

Total non-farm jobs went up .1% from 9.3 to 9.4 July to August. Non-farm jobs rose 3.2 from the previous August.

The New York State unemployment rate stood at 7.1% for August, down 4.5% from the previous year.
