For the fourth year in a row, Downtown Binghamton will feature the New Year's Eve Binghamton Ball Drop on State Street.

The event itself is free of charge and there will be beverages available to purchase. It's a lot like Times Square, but without all the people. The event itself takes place on State Street between Social on State and Atomic Tom's.

Social on State will be open to the public and Atomic Tom's is having a VIP party.

Last year I had attended the ball drop in Binghamton for the first time and we had fun. I also remember last year on New Year's Eve the temperature was below zero with a wind chill of minus 20. They had tents set up on State Street with DJs inside, bars inside, and most importantly, heaters keeping the tents warm.

So if you're looking for something fun to do tonight check out the New Year's Eve ball drop on State Street in Binghamton. See pictures from last year's event below.

And if you do go out tonight, regardless if you go to the ball drop or not, and you have too much to drink, please do not drive.

The Schimmerling law office is once again hosting free cab rides home tonight. It's the 22nd year in a row that injury attorney Thomas E Schimmerling is offering the free cab rides to prevent drinking and driving. The offer starts at midnight tonight and will be offered through 4 a.m. All you have to do is call 607-779-1006 and they will make sure you get home safely.

Happy New Year from everyone here at 99 1 The Whale!
