What started out as a joke, has raised thousands of dollars for a children's hospital.

If you watch college football, I'm sure you've seen ESPN's “College GameDay”. That's where the hosts travel to a college town and do their show live from outside the stadium. They're always surrounded by fans of both teams, a lot of them with handmade signs.

This past weekend ESPN's “College  Gameday” was in Ames Iowa. One of the students in the crowd held up a sign that said, “Busch Light Supply Needs Replenished”, then he listed his Venmo information so people could send him money.

The stunt worked, and within minutes people had sent hundreds of dollars to Carson King's account. When King checked it Monday, it was over $5,000. Now you would think that the kid would either keep the money, throw a huge party for his classmates, or just buy an unlimited supply of beer. But Carson decided to donate the money to the University of Iowa's Children's Hospital.

According to WHO TV, King said he's going to buy one case of beer and donate the rest of the money. He also stated that he was going to leave his fundraiser page up until the end of the month.

I went to his Venmo page and it is still receiving donations from people all around the country. I also noticed that one of the Bush Distributing companies called Doll Distributing has reached out to him saying that they would like to assist him further.

It's nice to see college kids thinking of other people instead of themselves. Especially in this case, when they are helping sick children. I hope he raises hundreds of thousands of dollars to help support the Children's Hospital.

Thank you Carson King for helping the children, as well as giving me hope for our future generations. I will have a cold frosty one in your honor tonight.
