All New Yorkers Over Age 50 Eligible for Covid-19 Vaccination

Age restrictions for Covid-19 vaccine in New York state are being adjusted to enable more people to make appointments.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced that all residents over the age of 50 will be eligible to be vaccinated starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

The move lowers the eligibility age by ten years. Essential workers and people with pre-existing conditions already are allowed to receive a Covid-19 vaccine in New York.

According to the governor, more than 7.7 million vaccine doses have been administered across the state. About 26 percent of the state's population has received at least one dose.

Appointments may be made through New York state's vaccination website. Vaccine information is available at ny.gov/vaccine.
