Yes my friends. it's that time of year. Time for The Whale's annual Thanksgiving tradition.

Every year, for as long as I can remember, at least 30 years, 99.1 The Whale has aired Arlo Guthrie's  classic Alice's Restaurant Massacree on Thanksgiving Day. And we know how busy your day can be, so that's why we air it three times during the day.

Times are approximate, but expect the first airing around 7:15am, the second around 12:15pm and the third around 6:15pm. Sound like the plot for a Charles Dickens novel.

Alice's Restaurant Massacree was released in 1967, and it's also the title of the album. This was Arlo Guthrie's debut album. The song takes up all of side one. Side two contains seven songs.

It's a song that begins with littering and ends being denied entry into the U.S. Army. A timeless classic to be sure, so don't miss one of our three airings on Thanksgiving Day, because it sounds best on the radio.

All of us at 99.1 The Whale wish you and your family an awesome Thanksgiving holiday. Take us wherever you go this holiday weekend. You can hear us on your radio at 99.1 FM, online at 991thewhale.com, on your mobile phone with the new Whale App – search for 99.1 The Whale in your app store, and now on Amazon Alexa enabled devices - just say "Alexa, Play The Whale!"
