Minnesota Vikings player Adrian Peterson made a plea agreement and avoided jail time in his child abuse case.

The agreement was approved by Texas' Montgomery County DA and sees Peterson paying a $4,000 fine, performing 80 hours of community service and having the verdict of guilt deferred by 2 years.

The Viking's star was charged with felony injury to a child for using a wooden switch to punish his 4 year old son earlier in the year. Under the plea agreement, the charges were reduced.

It is now up to the NFL and the Vikings as to when Peterson can return to the field.
