Add Wind to the Weather Issues in Twin Tiers Tuesday
Add wind to the weather concerns for the Twin Tiers April 19.
The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory in effect from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. for Broome, Tioga, Chenango, Cortland, Tioga and Delaware Counties in New York as well as Bradford, Susquehanna and Wayne Counties in Pennsylvania.
Forecasters say winds could blow steady at 20 to 30 miles per hour from the west and gust up to 40 miles per hour.
Strong, gusty winds could contribute to more trees, limbs and utility lines coming down in the region. In addition, the wind could cause another hazard with unsecured objects blown around. Residents should secure items like garbage cans and recycle bins and deflate any holiday decorations.
Motorists who do venture out in spite of requests they stay off the roads due to the snow, should also be aware of the wind which could blow vehicles out of their lane in slippery conditions.
