Have you ever joined a Facebook group? Maybe you are a part of one now or used to be in one. There is certainly no lack of groups out there. We even have our own Facebook group that we started during the pandemic called Southern Tier Open For Business.

We put this together as a way to let our community know what businesses were open, who offered take-out meals, what services they provided, etc. It turned out to be a very popular Facebook group with close to 4500 members.

I didn't have any inclination to join any Facebook pages for a long time after I had signed up for a Facebook account, but gradually I found some that interested me. Those included Facebook groups about some of my favorite television shows like M*A*S*H and The Office, along with some local groups like Broome County History and Southern Tier New York Broadcasters.

There are a few others that are about television and streaming service shows that I have considered joining, but until I have finished watching all the episodes (especially through the streaming services where you can binge-watch), I won't join, because I don't want to run across any spoilers.

These Facebook groups can be pretty interesting, informative and a place to just chat with others who share your interest in whatever the group is for. We thought it would be cool to make a list of some of the most helpful local Facebook groups that you might be interested in checking out.

Take a look below. You might just find another interesting Facebook group to join.
