Earlier this summer, I was following the travels of a black bear through my old stomping grounds, and friends backyards, in South Jersey. It amazed me how people reacted as if it were a shock.

Then, Sunday night, a bear decided to roam around Endicott. Again, people were surprised. What's to be surprised about? Bears live around us. They always have and always will. We are in their territory.

The one thing to remember is they are looking for a good hibernation spot now and they will be more active. Leave them alone and they will leave you alone. Whew!

Here's a video of a bear sighting in Endwell from two years ago.
