I moved to the Binghamton area 3 years ago. To be honest, until I went to the Binghamton Convention and Visitors Bureau website, I had no idea the treasure trove of things to see that are here. I'm thinking many people don't and some who have been here a while may have forgotten.

I now feel it's my duty to open the door to discovery. So here are a list of attractions to visit. All this information is on the link above.

First is the Historic Trolley Tour. It's free and you will learn about Historic Binghamton on this guided tour. It's at the Phelps Mansion Museum on the first Friday of every month. It leaves at 6pm.

Next, to discover more of downtown, try the First Friday Art Walk. From 6 to 9 pm, you can visit over 45 art galleries, studios, restaurants and shops. You will not believe the talent that resides in this town! A good date night idea.

Culturally, this area is rich. You can enjoy a show at the Forum by the Broadway Theatre League or the Tri-Cities Opera. I saw an opera with Kathy Whyte last year. What a great experience! And if you like music, expand your horizons with the Binghamton Philharmonic. These are things we should all do at least once in a lifetime.

Then there are seasonal events. Beginning in the Spring the B-Mets take the field at NYSEG Stadium. Always a good time. In the Summer, you can head to Carousel Day at C. Fred Johnson Park in Johnson City. It's the home of the largest of the 6 carousels in the area. Admission is free.

In the Fall, another free event takes place. The Columbus Day Tournament of Bands & Italian Festival. Then there's the Endicott Apple Festival. In the Winter, the Binghamton Senators hockey team takes to the ice. Yes, we have terrific sports teams here! The Roberson Museum & Science Center has the Home for the Holidays celebration, including a bunch decorations and the International Forest.

My favorite attraction opens in the Spring. The Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park. Haven't been? Make a date!

My list just scratches the surface. So, the next time you think "I have nothing to do." Think again. The Binghamton area is lush with experiences.
