Your Guide to the 2019 Dick’s Sporting Goods Open
This week is Dick's Sporting Goods Open week. If you think it's only three days of golf, you are wrong.
There is something going on every day starting today. Today at En-Joie you may see some of the pros playing practice rounds to get used to the golf course. The event qualifier is also taking place Monday at The Links at Hiawatha Landing. That's where players can golf to win their way in to compete in the DSGO.
Monday afternoon on the first tee at En-Joie, you can check out Dennis Walker's Junior Clinic Golf Show.
On Tuesday, there is another chance to see the pros out practicing on the golf course.
Wednesday is the first two rounds of the Pro-Am. That's when amateurs get to play with the pros. The first flight tees off at 8 a.m., and the second flight starts at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday is also the day of the UHS Golf Expo featuring The Golden Bear, Jack Nicklaus. He will be on the 18th green answering questions and maybe even giving demonstrations.
Thursday is the second day of the Pro-Ams with another two flights. The first one starting at 8 a.m., and the second at 1:30 p.m. Also on Thursday, Scott McCarron, who won the Dick's Sporting Goods Open a couple of years ago, will be putting on a demonstration on how to drive the ball farther.
Friday is round one of the tournament itself. It's also "Pink Out Day" presented by the American Cancer Society, where fans are encouraged to wear pink to show their support for those battling cancer. On Friday night, country star Keith Urban will perform in-concert.
Saturday is the second round of tournament play and it's also the free day at the golf course. You can “En-Joie the Day on HH&K” by getting your free tickets at Maine's Food & Party Warehouse, Mirabito Convenience Stores, NBT Bank, Wegmans, and Community Bank, N.A. You must get your tickets prior to Saturday.
Sunday is the final round where later in the afternoon, someone will be crowned this year's Champion. It's also Walk to Defeat ALS, which is like your typical 5K walk, but you walk through the golf course and follow the leaders up to the 18th green.
So yeah, it's not just three days of golf, it's a full week of activities in Endicott.
