The general contractor for the project is Andrew R. Mancini Associates of Endicott.

Toby Riddleberger, Union-Endicott School District director of facilities and safety, said most of the project's work will be done over the next three months. He said some preliminary work was done over a few weeks during the spring while classes were still underway.

Riddleberger said all of the "old and weathered" seating is being removed. He said 20-foot-long concrete planks for the new bleachers have already been made. They'll be trucked to the high school from Pennsylvania.

Riddleberger said the "stadium will look pretty much the same," new railings will be installed and there will be additional space that will be accessible to people who use wheelchairs.

School district voters approved funding for the stadium reconstruction work in a 2019 capital project referendum.

The upgraded facility is expected to be ready for use by October 1.
