It's not men's imaginations that turn women on.

That's pretty clear because a new list of the top excuses married men use on their partners when they go to cheat with their mistresses shows men have no imagination when coming up with a convincing lie.

The date comes from a survey of 2,000 British men from Illicit Encounters, a dating website for married people that previously shed some light on when those folks in relationships are going to stray.

Playing golf was the most popular excuse, with 34% of men using that old line on their wives when, in reality, they were going to show off a different kind of wood to another woman.

Top Excuses for Cheating

  • Playing golf - 34%
  • "I've got a business meeting" or "I have to work late" - 27%
  • Going to the bar with friends - 13%
  • Going to the gym - 5%
  • Shopping for groceries - 4%
  • Other - 17%

This list is horrendous and proves men have simply gotten complacent. Working late? Going to the gym? Way to break the stereotypes, fellas.

Britain is the home to some of the most amazing minds in all sorts of fields -- Stephen Hawking, Charles Dickens, Isaac Newton, Simon Cowell, John Cleese -- yet when it comes to giving their ladies the slip they're about as creative as that kid who can think of nothing other than writing "Have a nice summer" when you ask him to sign your yearbook.
