The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force says cocaine, a loaded handgun, ammunition and suspected drug sales proceeds have been seized and two people arrested in a raid at a home on Crestmont Road in Binghamton.

Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]Authorities searched the home on January 24 and arrested 49-year-old Thomas Newman and 36-year-old Jessica Sheftall.

Police say they found about 3 grams of cocaine, drug packaging materials, the loaded gun and about $1,600 in cash during the search of the couple's home.

Newman is charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon as well as two misdemeanor charges of criminally using drug paraphernalia.  He was sent to the Broome County Jail.

Sheftall is charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and felony criminal possession of a firearm as well as two misdemeanor counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia.  Authorities say she was released following arraignment under the new bail state bail reform rules.
