New Travel Tool Launched For Penn State Game Day Trips
Are you ready for some football? The season is here. Pro football pre-season is in progress with the regular season on the horizon.
Pennsylvania high school football has already begun, New York schools are about to begin, as well as college teams locally, regionally, and across the country.
On the college side, while the Southern Tier has many Syracuse Orange fans as well as Ithaca and Cornell, to name a few, many Penn State Nittany Lion fans live in and around the Greater Binghamton area.

While it may be a four-hour trip (or so) to attend a game at Beaver Stadium in State College, Pennsylvania, I'm sure several make the trip. It's one of the best stadiums in the country to experience the thrill of college football.
Especially when the team is one of the best, if not THEE best college football team in the country (Okay, Texas is ranked #1 currently with Penn State at #2.)
Anyway, if you plan on catching the Nittany Lions in action at Beaver Stadium this fall, here's something cool that PennDOT has put together to make your commute to the game a bit easier.
Beginning with this Saturday’s game (August 30, 2025) against Nevada, you can plan your trips to Penn State home football games using the enhanced real-time travel information available on a specialized 511PA web page.
511PA includes travel information for every Penn State home football game, including travel information beginning the Thursday before each home game through the following Monday.
511PA is a valuable tool to empower the public and minimize congestion. By providing this real-time information, motorists can more easily plan the route that works best for them as they travel to Penn State football games this fall. - PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll
According to PennDOT, the Penn State football page monitors traffic conditions on the primary travel routes to Beaver Stadium, including travel times and alerts for each parking zone:
- West Zone (access via Atherton Street to Park Avenue)
- East Zone (access via U.S. 322/I-99 to Park Avenue)
- North Zone (access via Fox Hollow Road)
- South Zone (access via University Drive and Porter Road from College Avenue/U.S. 26)
The Penn State football page also includes average travel time for the primary route, along with one or two alternate routes. The page also indicates incidents, construction, traffic cameras, traffic speeds, as well as a Beaver Stadium parking map.
