Tioga County Government Moves to Develop Police Reform Plan

With just over four months remaining to complete a police reform initiative to submit to the state, Tioga County is preparing to conduct a survey focusing on law enforcement.

Legislature chair Martha Sauerbrey says the all county residents will be able to offer their views on local policing.

Governor Cuomo last June directed local governments to submit a policing reform plan by April 1. State aid to localities could be withheld if governments don't send a proposal to Albany.

The Tioga County survey may be completed online by clicking HERE. Paper copies of the survey may be obtained at the county office building at 56 Main Street in Owego.

Residents will be able to complete the survey through December 7.

An online meeting is planned to discuss policies and procedures of the Tioga County Sheriff's Office.
