The outdoor summer church picnics and block parties continue this weekend and it is time for the Owego Strawberry Festival. The Festival takes place in downtown Owego and starts Friday afternoon. And, there really is something for the entire family.

Along with all the food and craft vendors, there is a lot of live entertainment both Friday and Saturday spread out throughout the whole festival. That includes the rock bands; Hot Dogs and Gin, OCD, Tijuana Danger Dogs, Voodoo Dead, The Tim Ruffo Band, and Sonny weeks with Rob Stachyra.

According to Owego's website, they will have dinosaur events this year. They say they will be located throughout the festival as well. So if your kids are into dinosaurs I'm sure they will enjoy that. There will also be fireworks at Draper Park starting at 10 p.m, The 5 K Race, a Kids Zone, and there's also an "Adult Zone" if you will, a wine and beer tasting tent will be located on Lake Street in the Tioga State Bank parking lot. It's $5 per person to enter and you must have your ID with you.

Personally, I'm not a huge strawberry fan. I do not like fresh strawberries, but I like strawberry flavored stuff. I know it's weird, I don't know why. But I do enjoy going to the Strawberry Fest. We make it out there just about every year, and we are there for a couple of hours when we do go. Owego really is a cool little town and I feel like I'm helping to support the community by going to something like this. So far, the weather looks great for the event.  According to WBNG's Brian Schroeder, it will be Mostly Sunny Friday with a High of 74, and Mostly Sunny and 80 on Saturday. To find out exactly where your favorite musicians are going to be playing and all the other attractions that are going to be happening at Strawberry Festival, check out the Owego website
