Is it just me nit-picking as I get older? Maybe, maybe not. There are some things that people say that, well, just annoy me.

Here are a few of them, along with how I'd like to respond:

"Are you having a bad day?" - Well I am now.

"Thanks for having me." - I hear that so many times at the beginning of interviews where the host says something like "Thanks for coming here to talk with us." This line really bugs me for some reason. Thanks for having you what? Ugh.

"You sure are quiet today." And I'd like to remain that way, so don't talk to me.

"At the end of the day..." At the end of the day, what? I'm going home? I'm going to Sleep? What?

"Promise me you won't be mad when I tell you this." - Are you kidding? I'm mad already because of what you just said.

"Are you tired?" - Yes, I'm tired of you asking this.

"Did you have a rough night?" No, but you are about to have a rough day.

"Is everything Okay?" If it's not, I'm not about to tell you.

"You need to smile more."  Who are you, the Joker?

"The gist of it is..." What is a 'gist?'  Okay, I did look it up and it means "...the point is..." So why don't people just say "...the point is..."?

"If I'm going to be completely honest." Well, why wouldn't you be completely honest?

"Out and about." I understand you are out, but about what?

"When all is said and done." All what is said and done?

"Can I tell you something?" Nah, I'm good.

"Would you like to add something to this list?" Actually that's something I'd love you to do. What sayings get you mad?
