For the 8th straight year, the Binghamton Bridge Run Half Marathon and 5K Race will take place through the streets of Binghamton. I had Amy Shaw the race director, and Judi Hess from the Broome County Chamber of Commerce in the studio earlier this week to talk about the annual event.

If you're a runner, this is a great event for you. The race will have you running over just about every bridge in Binghamton. Hence the name. Organizers are expecting 1,500 participants. They have added a 2-person half marathon relay this year. This is great if you don't feel like you can run the whole thing yourself. There will also be a Kids Run and Family Fun Zone with inflatables at NYSEG Stadium. The race will wrap up with the awesome Finish Line Party featuring beer from the Beer Tree Brew Company in Port Crane. There will also be live music under the tent in the NYSEG Stadium parking lot. A portion of the proceeds raised this year will benefit the retired professional firefighter's cancer fund.

You can sign up now and you receive a t-shirt to commemorate the race. To sign up or to get more information, check out the Bridge Run website. Listen to the interview below for more information and check out the map of the race route.
