Help Shape The Syracuse Mets’ New Identity
Remember when you first heard that the AA Binghamton Mets baseball team was about to rebrand with name suggestions from the community?
After all the suggestions were submitted, a select few were chosen, and eventually, the winning name was the Rumble Ponies. If I remember correctly, over 1500 names were submitted to the B Mets office, which was whittled down to six finalists - The Bullheads, Timber Jockeys, Gobblers, Stud Muffins, Rumble Ponies, and Rocking Horses.
The Rumble Ponies' name was chosen as the winner and became official on November 3rd, 2016. The name was chosen as a nod to Binghamton being the Carousel Capital of the World.

Well, now it's Syracuse's turn. According to MILB.com Syracuse, the AAA organization is looking to rebrand for the 2027 season, and is asking fans to submit a name.
The team is looking for a new name and identity that is about Syracuse and Central New York. Didn't they use to be the Syracuse Chiefs for a time? The Syracuse Mets are taking submissions beginning today (August 5th, 2025) through the end of the day on August 31st.
On September 2nd, 2025, the team will choose and announce 10 names, take votes, and cut that number in half on September 14th. The winning name will be selected late in September and announced to the public.
I'm trying to think of something that might work, like the Salt City Mets, or maybe the Syracuse Blizzard, because the city usually has a lot of snowfall in the winter.
