The Cortland County Health Department says it is working with SUNY Cortland as the area has seen a rise in COVID-19 cases, many of which can be attributed to small gatherings in private settings.   

September 14th's COVID-19 report in Cortland showed the county adding another 11 cases for a total of 158.  According to the State University of New York tracker, the university has had 26 positive campus-administered tests.

A Health Department statement says communication is ongoing with SUNY Cortland “as we work together to complete isolation and quarantine activities and SUNY Cortland continues to put strategies in place to mitigate the spread of COVID into the greater Cortland community.”  

SUNY Cortland joins SUNY Oswego in suspending sports and Greek Life indefinitely.  

The highest campus infection rate according to the SUNY tracker is Oneonta with 340 cases to date. 

There have been a total of 43 positives to date at Binghamton University, 4 at SUNY Broome Community college, 2 at SUNY Delhi, 56 at SUNY Oswego with 55 of those new positives recorded in the past seven days and two at Tompkins Cortland Community College.
